Serena

Serena’s love of horses led her to finding Residential Equine in November 2022. Her work ethic and enjoyment of being in the barn can be attributed to the work-to-ride opportunities she grew up with at various hunter-jumper barns in Connecticut. She has 15 years of horsemanship under her belt, beginning at 9 years old. In college, she discovered the world of dressage through the University of Vermont’s intercollegiate dressage team. She majored in Wildlife Biology and minored in Animal Science, enrolling in equine-related coursework whenever possible and participating in the student-run horse barn co-op. She studied abroad in 2017 in Scotland, and was pleased to join the Aberdeen equestrian team while there, ensuring lots of quality time with fluffy cobs.

Since graduating in 2019, she has worked to keep horses in her life through attending conventions, photographing at shows, and lessoning when possible. Her move to Tennessee in 2020 has exposed her to new disciplines, culture, and far fewer frozen water buckets! She currently works at Vanderbilt’s division of animal care, and resides with her partner and two cats in Davidson County.
